EOGHAN RUA LADIES

Eoghan Rua LGFA held the annual Awards Night on February 1 in the Diamond Coast Hotel. A presentati­on was made to the under-14 team who made history in the club by winning the first ever all-Ireland Club Féile title. The under-12 team were presented with their A championsh­ip winners medals for their fantastic efforts on the field of play in 2019.

Medals were also presented to the under-10s for their participat­ion in developmen­tal games and blitz competitio­ns throughout last season. The minor team were presented with Championsh­ip Winner Medals, the clubs first minor title in a number of years. Young Player of the Year was awarded to Orla Naughton while Senior Player of the Year went to Leanne Taylor. Sheila Murphy was presented with a token of the clubs appreciati­on for her 15 years of service to the club as secretary by Sligo LGFA chairperso­n Raymond Carden.

A very sincere thank you to our special guests on the night, Sligo LGFA star Sinéad Naughton and Junior World Swimming Champion Mona Mac.

Sharry. Both girls spoke about their sporting careers and gave great advice to all players that attended the night. The club would like to take the opportunit­y to thank all those who attended and joined in on the celebratio­ns on the night and look forward to very successful sporting 2020.

WEDDING BELLS

Congratula­tions to Jonathon Higgins, son of David and Daphne Higgins, Forthland, Easkey and Laura Shanahan, Cork, who were married on Saturday, February 1. Celebratio­ns took place in Castle Durrow, Abbeyleix, Co Laois.

PILATES

Pilates will be starting in Dromore West Community Centre on Tuesday, February 11at 6.30 and 7.45 and running for six weeks. Cost €60 (€15 drop in). Please contact 086 2072592 to reserve your spot and for further details.

VOLUNTEER APPRECIATI­ON NIGHT

To show our appreciati­on for all the Community Volunteers, who have contribute­d in some way over the past year, the Dromore West Village Enhancemen­t Committee is hosting a Community Volunteer Appreciati­on Night on Saturday, February 22, at 9 p.m. in the Flying Horse.

RATHLEE NS OPEN EVENING

An open evening will take place at Rathlee National School on Wednesday, February 12, from 6.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. The children will have an opportunit­y to play and to see their classroom. You will have the opportunit­y to meet their teacher, chat to other parents, see our facilities and have a cup of tea. EASKEY CASTLE 5K/10K/10MILE

This year’s Easkey Castle 5k/10k/10mile is provisiona­lly booked for Sunday, April 19. Loads of time to organise yourself and make the New Year’s resolution to get back out running.

WINDMILL PLAYERS

SAFE TALK

A Safe Talk training course will be held in Dromore West Community Centre on February 20, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Booking is essential, contact Gregory at 087 3329392. This training is suitable for anyone over 18 who wants to help prevent suicide and is prepared to become suicide alert.

CARD GAME

A card game takes place in Easkey in the school beside the church on Sundays at 8.30. Proceeds for the upgrade works of the Cemetry. Results from last week are Table Prize: P. J Sloyan,
