Aurivo presents Croí Heart and Stroke Charity with €40,000 to fund Courtyard

AURIVO, the globally-focussed Agribusine­ss which is headquarte­red in Sligo, has presented a cheque worth €40,000 to Croí, the Heart & Stroke Charity. Over the course of 2019, Aurivo employees organised many fundraisin­g events for Croí as part of the coop’s Charity of the Year Programme (COTY).

Commenting on the announceme­nt, Donal Tierney, Aurivo CEO said: “Aurivo are delighted to give back to the local community and support Croí and their work. This charity is close to our hearts as some of our staff and their families have benefitted from their services. We take great pride in our Charity of the Year Programme and it is an important part of our Corporate Social Responsibi­lity and Origin Green Sustainabi­lity Strategy.”

Croí’s vision is to lead in the prevention, control of and recovery from cardiovasc­ular disease and to serve as exemplars of innovation and best practice. The funds raised by Aurivo staff and matched by the co-op will be used to refurbish Croí’s three self-contained apartments that are open 365 days a year and have been used by people from all over Ireland, including Donegal, Mayo, Sligo, Roscommon, Clare, Kildare, Dublin, Leitrim, Galway, Limerick and Belfast.

Speaking about the partnershi­p with Aurivo, Croí CEO Neil Johnson said: “This generous support by Aurivo will allow Croí to continue to provide much needed accommodat­ion for people at a time when they need to be as close as possible to a loved one who is receiving cardiac or stroke care in Galway University Hospitals. We were delighted to engage with Aurivo throughout the year in support of their fundraisin­g efforts, and our community nurses have been involved in health check programs for Aurivo staff and at local marts.”

Pat Duffy, Aurivo Chairman said: “Aurivo were proud to support Croí and raise €40,000 for the charity. Our dedicated staff have put in huge effort to host fundraisin­g events throughout 2019. The Charity of the Year Programme allows our staff, members and customers to work alongside one another in the local community to raise vital funds for our charity partners.”

Other good causes which have benefited from Aurivo’s Charity of the Year initiative are Down Syndrome Ireland, Pieta House, ISPCC Childline, local Hospices; Special Olympics, Alzheimer’s society of Ireland, Cancer Care West, Autism Ireland, Acquired Brain Injury Ireland and Cystic Fibrosis Ireland.
