Castlerea Mart Market Report

600 Cattle on offer this week and trade and prices are remaining very strong with demand from farmers, feedlots and exporters very noticeable this week. Extra numbers of Bullocks met with a very lively trade, while the Heifer and Weanling rings are noticing extra buyers also. The Dry Cow trade was similar to previous weeks, while the calves and runners met a full clearance. Sample Prices:

BULLOCKS: Lim 485kg €1285, Ch 485kg €1250, Lim 480kg 1165, Ch 545kg €1400, Lim 505kg €1225, Lim 580kg €1440, Lim 570kg €1375, Lim 640kg €1425.

HEIFERS: Lim 425kg €1065, Ch 425kg €1060, Lim 445kg €1260, Lim 470kg €1175, Ch 615kg €1430, Lim 540kg €1400. Lim 640kg €1565, Lim 470kg €1175.

COWS: DRY COWS: BBX 830kg €1650, Ch 845kg €1585, BBX 780kg €1550, Lim 490kg €860, Ch 770kg €1350.

Cows with Calves at foot made from €1010 to €1400 per head. Springers made from €850 to €1650 per head.

Calves: Dairy X Calves made from €5 to €145 per head with Hereford and AA making from €180 to €270 per head.

RUNNERS: Good numbers on offer with lots making from €450 to €740 for continental lots.

WEANLING BULLS: Ch 270kg €900, Ch 285kg €855, Lim 270kg €775, Ch 340kg €1120, Ch 315kg €1120, Lim 280kg €775.

WEANLING HEIFERS: Ch 270kg €845, AA 260kg €600, Lim 270kg €730, Ch 320kg €975, Ch 305kg €915, Ch 380kg €990, Ch 280kg €730.
