Connacht final date for Sligo Rugby u17s

-

THE Sligo Rugby U17 boys are into the Connacht Cup Final, after a hard fought win over Carrick on Shannon RFC last Sunday.

A low scoring game, with only five scores in total, it was the home side who were first off the mark with a Cillian O’Neill penalty in the opening minutes of the game.

Sligo dominated for much of the first half but a lack of discipline at the breakdown gave the visitors two scoring opportunities and they kicked themselves into the lead at the half time whistle.

The second half was another tough affair, with neither side willing to give an inch, but it was Sligo’s Ben Garvey who powered over the try line for the decisive score, followed by Cillian O’Neill’s conversion.

This was the only score in the second half, with strong defensive work from both teams.

Sligo U17s will now compete in the Connacht Cup final on Sunday 29th April against either Corinthians or Buccaneer.
