Men charged with assault are sent for trial to Circuit

FIVE men appeared before Judge Michael Connellan at Sligo District Court on Thursday last charged with violent disorder and were sent forward for trial to the present sitting of Sligo Circuit Court.

Four of the men were also charged with assaulting a man causing him harm.

They were served with the Book of Evidence and sent forward for trial to the circuit court.

The alleged offences all arise out of the same incident in Sligo town.

Before Sligo District Court were Patrick Irwin (42), Garavogue Villas, Sligo is charged with committing violent disorder on July 3 2023 at Norbert Ferguson Parade, Sligo in that he and other persons namely Graham Irwin and Lee Regan used or threatened to use unlawful violence.

He is also charged with assaulting Kian O’Brien causing him harm..

Graham Irwin (29) also with an address in Garavogue Villas is also charged with assaulting Kian O’Brien causing him harm.

He is also charged with committing violent disorder in that him and other persons namely Patrick Irwin and Lee Regan present together used or threatened to use unlawful violence.

Lee Regan (39) also with an address in Garavogue Villas, Sligo is charged with committing violent disorder in that he with other persons namely Graham Irwin and Patrick Irwin present together used or threatened to use unlawful violence.

He is also charged with assaulting Kian O’Brien causing him harm.

Kenneth McMorrow (45) of Manor Court, Dunshaughl­in, Co Meath is charged with committing violent disorder in that he and other persons namely Patrick Irwin, Graham Irwin, Lee Regan and Josh Gaughan present together used or threatened to use unlawful violence.

He is also charged with assaulting Kian O’Brien causing him harm.

He is also charged that he did while committing an offence assault causing harm in the course of a fight produced a glass bottle.

Josh Gaughan (26) of Newlands Manor Green, Newlandsma­nor, Clondalkin, Dublin 22 is also charged with committing violent disorder in that him and other persons namely Patrick Irwin, Graham Irwin, Lee Regan and Kenneth McMorrow together used or threatened to use violent disorder.

All five men were served with the Book of Evidence and were sent forward by Judge Connellan to the present sittings of Sligo Circuit Court.

All five were released on bail to appear at the Circuit Court.
