WB YEATS MUSICAL THEATRE PIECE

Cees Thissen, a composer from the Netherlands, has dared to create a musical theatre piece with a completely unique interpretation of the poetry of WB Yeats. Never before has such a remarkable and complete picture been given of the work of Yeats. In this performance, we hear Yeats himself, reflecting on his life in his final days. The audience is taken along by Yeats, the ensemble, and the choir, gaining a deep insight into Yeats’ world of ideas. The composer has chosen 14 poems by Yeats to set to music, thereby creating a comprehensive portrayal of Yeats’ life and work.

The Pablo Neruda Music Projects Foundation is a foundation from Heemstede in The Netherlands and has existed for 25 years. During that period, the foundattion has produced numerous high profile productions in the wider region. Hundreds of amateur singers, soloists, musicians and arrangers were inspired by the poetic work of world renowned poets, such as Pablo Neruda, Roald Dahl, Petratca, Emily Dickinson and recently the concert series around the work of WB Yeats.

The 25 th anniversary will be celebrated with a special performance in which the foundation presents the production: ‘WB Yeats, The Land of Hearts Desire’ in Drumcliffe.

Organisers issued a word of thanks to the church council of St Columba’s Church for the opportuntiy to perform there.

The event takes place on Friday May 24 and Saturday May 25 at St Columa’s Church in Drumcliffe. Entry is free.
