THE COLLAB CO-OP

- – Michael McDermott

Every single creative article you read on these pages is based on creative partnerships.

Someone at some stage had an idea, they searched around and reached out and found others to assist, amplify and realise their dreams and ambitions. And while the pandemic might have lowered our spirits and extracted the interactive human element for a while, it didn’t stop collaborations.

On these pages we have new spaces (Hang Tough Contemporary, Mend), new designs (An Leabharlann, Studio Drop), new magazines (Dreaming), new music (Kojaque), new projects (Pluid), new photographs (Griffith College graduates) and even new eyeballs (Mervyn Nixon) to aid our perspective on the city.

We also have some new collaborations of our own to flag with you. We’re delighted to be teaming up with Griffith College to delve a little deeper into their photography graduate class of ’21 and will be carrying further images and information on our website and social media over the coming weeks. We’re also kicking off a summer series with Waterways Ireland informing you about their initiatives and the people who make it flow. We’ve commissioned illustrator Gav Connell to bring us WaterMark who will hopefully inspire us all to set a high one when it comes to how we respect and treat this great resource. We hope it can start a conversation not just about what’s being done with our canals but what can be done.

As always, we want to know about what you’re collaborating on so do drop us a line.
