Totally Dublin

We caught up with Sarah Boland, owner of V-Face, the tastiest vegan burgers in the city…

-

We heard you opened a coffee hatch? Any nice treats on the go? Yeah, it wasn’t in the original business plan but when the seating area was closed we decided to jump on the hatch wagon. We serve, well, coffee and we also make vegan sausage rolls in-house - black pudding, apple & rosemary, dumpling or chipotle and orange zest. We have toasties, donuts and icecream too.

Do you have an outdoor area set up for the summer? Yeah we were lucky enough to get an outdoor licence for a large space on the footpath across the road. We did some collabs with local artists and have 6 really brightly painted table barrels parked up there. The perfect spot to have an iced mocha and a dumpling sausage roll on a Saturday morning!

We know your main offering is vegan burgers. We’ve heard on the grapevine they are the best burgers in Dublin. Is this true? Ha ha. Well we won’t disagree but yeah we get lots of great reviews and feedback. It’s really nice when people visit from other countries and give us feedback. We had a couple over from LA (pre pandemic) which obviously has great vegan options and they were raving about them, so that was really nice.

Any new V-Burgs on the menu recently? The Smoke Show is the latest. It’s a beast - A smashed Beyond patty layered in two with our VF pink garlic mayo, smoked cheese, chipotle salsa, shredded lettuce, diced beef tomatoes & a giant home-made onion ring. Highly recommended.

How do you keep your menu so innovative? Everything on your insta page looks so yum and colourful? I do a lot of scrolling on insta and TikTok and then try to develop something more creative myself. I think it’s fun to jump on trends and do your own variations. I saw a biscoff iced latte on TikTok yesterday which looked divine and so now, I’m on the hunt for some biscoff. We will then add our own touches to it and make it ours. In regards to colours, my background is in graphic design so I guess it’s just something I am naturally aware of. It’s important to keep the ol’ grid lit.

Any plans to open a second V-Face? Yes, we are on the hunt on the South side at the moment. Will keep you posted…

We saw that you are also selling your sauces in store? Can you tell us a bit more about that?

Yep, we sell jars of our pink garlic mayo, sriracha mayo and OG mayo in store. This is a work in progress but we are hoping to launch them in a few more retail spaces this year.

Any free V-burgs going? We do giveaways on insta every week actually but you’ll have to give us a follow first @vface.ie

Thanks for interviewing us – see you soon!
