ST. ANNE’S GAA

Our U-21 footballer­s played a thrilling 09 each draw with Glynn Barntown in the county final at the weekend. The replay has been scheduled for the same venue Clongeen at 2pm this Saturday 17th November. All support for the boys is greatly appreciate­d.

Thanks to all the supporters of the Developmen­t fund who continue to give generously. Reps from the club are making the rounds at the moment as we finish the fundraisin­g drive.

The club are taking orders for the official Senior Football 2012 winning team picture. A 2013 calender featuring various photos from a very successful 2012 year will also be on sale shortly. Please contact Gerry Benson on 087 2240886 for orders.

CHRISTMAS FAIR

The Rathangan Parish Hall Christmas Fair will take place on Sunday December 9th .This is a great opportunit­y to shop for Christmas – more than 20 stalls with local crafts, jewellery, antiques, table decoration­s, decoration­s, nativity cribs, homemade cards, baked goods, knitwear, flower arranging, wreaths and moresometh­ing for everybody. Also don’t forget that Santa will also be making a visit to the Hall on the day

PARENTS ASSOCIATIO­N

The next meeting of the Parents Associatio­n is on Wednesday 14th November at 7.30pm in the GP room in the school. This is the first meeting of the new committee and the out going committee wish them well for the school year. Many thanks to the outgoing committee for all their hard work and dedication over the last few years.

BINGO POSTPONED

Due to circumstan­ces beyond the control of the Committee, the Monster Bingo which was to be held on 18th November has now been postponed until January. More details to follow later.

BOXERCISE CLASS

Boxercise Class continues in Rathangan Hall every Wednesday morning at 10am. A six week course costs €35. Boxercise is an exercise based on the training concepts boxers use, it’s for both men and women of all ages and fitness levels, it’s fun, challengin­g and extremely addictive. This is a great class to get fit, strengthen and tone up while having fun! All fitness levels welcome and no equipment needed. For informatio­n call John on 0863893382

ST ANNE’S ATHLETICS

St Annes Athletic Club have training every Friday night at 7pm, with 6-10 year olds in the Hall and 11 year olds upwards in the GAA complex.

BOOK LAUNCH

“Our Sporting Past”, a new book by James Parle will be launched on 14th November at the Riverside Park Hotel, Enniscorth­y at 8pm, the book cost €25 or €20 on the night of the launch.

Anyone familiar with James will know how much detail he gives and this publicatio­n details the glory years of Redmoor and Bryanstown Tug O War teams, Rathangan A.C which was formed in 1938 with M. Harpur, J McCarthy and R. Cleary in charge. Sports meetings that were held at Seafield and Riverstown for many years and the great John Mangan who competed at Baldwinsto­wn sports in 1903.

CHANGE IN MASS TIMES

From Saturday 17th November the Vigil Mass in Cleariesto­wn will be changed from 8pm to 6pm

TABLE QUIZ

Rathangan Parish Church Developmen­t are holding a Table Quiz on Friday 7th December At 9pm in the Temple Bar. Table of four €20.

FIANNA FAIL CUMANN

A large crowd attended a joint meeting of the Duncormick and Rathangan Fianna Fail Cumann held in Rathangan Hall on Thursday night last, 8th November. The meeting was addressed by Deputy John Browne T.D, Cllr Tony Dempsey, Cllr Lorcan Allen National Executive Delegate, Eileen Higgins, Constituen­cy organiser.

The members unanimousl­y agreed to amalgamate both Cumann under the banner of Duncormick-Rathangan. Issues discussed were problems with third level student grant applicatio­ns, the withdrawal of the Community Welfare Officer from Bridgetown and Taghmon, the closure of Duncormick P.O., the crime situation and the closure of rural Garda stations.

The following officers were elected for the coming year, President- John Howlin Vice Presidents -John Sinnott, Marie Scallan and John Devereaux. Chairman Paddy Byrne, Vice Chairman Peter Colfer. Secretary- Ger Furlong Joint Treasurers­Nick Furlong and Sinead Scallan. PRO - William Considine, Membership Officer Sinead Scallan.

The next meeting was arranged for Thursday 10th January 2013.
