ENNISCORTHY
The recent cold weather snap may not suit everyone but, looking at the busy timesheet in Enniscorthy Golf Club on most days last week, it seemed to suit a lot of our golfers.
With the exception of Friday, a lot of golf was played including the continuing winter singles competitions through the week and the November open Seniors singles on Thursday.

NEW ROSS SENIORS
How lucky can a group of veteran golfers get in the second week of November, with the sun blazing down on them all day, making their weekly outing a most pleasurable one. Again we had a huge entry with a massive 17 teams taking to the fairways.
With the prevailing weather conditions on Thursday where overhead and underfoot, it was as dry as the proverbial bone, scoring with placing everywhere was going to be good. There we had a twist in the tale as the actual winners (94 points) were disqualified for recording the points rather than the strokes tally on the 16th hole.
With the victors out of the way there was a tie then (93 points) for first place between two teams. How tight it was can be gauged from the fact that it was the best score on the last six holes (31/30) that decided it. Here, the team of Denis Kirwan (11), Willie Whitty (19), Willie Naddy (19) and Jim ‘Dublin’ Ryan (20) were declared the winners.
In second place on the same score came Joe O’Farrell (16), Patsy Farrell (16), Willie Kelly (17) and Martin Burke (25). The third spot went to John Dowling (11), Paddy Hayles (17), Noel Dunne (20) and Brian Dolan (23) with 92 points.
Nearest the pin prizes went to Peter Goggin (ninth) and Johnny Watson (eleventh). A few players are arriving too close to the draw time each week, upsetting the smooth running of the competition, so be warned - if you are not in time there will be no game for you on that day.
