Harriers want U-21 on league system
THE GENERAL satisfaction in how the newlook adult championships were run is reflected in the small number of motions to be debated at the next County Board meeting on November 20.
However, the ongoing issue of trying to accommodate Under-21 activity at the most suitable time will be discussed.
Faythe Harriers want the championships in this grade to be played on a league basis with two groups in each division, and the top two in each contesting the county semifinals. They suggest that the hurling be played in March, April and May, with the football to follow in September, October and November.
The C.C.C. committee members are calling for the Under-21 hurling championships to start on St. Patrick's weekend and be played to a conclusion on a knockout basis though, with the football equivalent to get under way on the first weekend of September or earlier at their discretion.
They are also asking that two teams be relegated from the Junior and Junior ‘A’ hurling championships if required to form two groups of six for the following year’s championships.
Faythe Harriers were the only club to submit motions, and they are seeking change in the All-County Hurling Leagues as well.
They want them to be organised based on the championship entries (12 teams per league), but with each team only playing those they are not due to face in the championship.
