COUNTY FINAL
All roads lead to Wexford Park this Saturday for the Intermediate Football County Final, when we will take on our neighbours Taghmon at 4 p.m. We would like to wish Pip Murphy, Tomas Kavanagh, Dan Brosnan, Gavin Sinnott, our marvellous captain John (Toe) Sinnott and the great squad around them the very best of luck. Time now to get our parish full of the black and red colours and get behind the team. Enjoy the build up for the week lads and we will see you all in Wexford Park Saturday.
CORACH RAMBLERS FC

The A-team were at home to Carlow premier league side Hanover harps today in the fai junior cup, we got off to a poor start going 1-0 down after three minutes, things got worse two minutes later when we conceded a second, on seven minutes we pulled a goal back following an excellent cross from Adam Diskin which was met on the volley by Philly Murphy. On 23 minutes we were caught on a quick counter attack and went 3-1 down. On 30 minutes we got a free kick on the edge of the box but it was put straight into the wall, for the last 15 minutes of the first half we pinned them back in their own box but couldn’t pull a goal back. In the second half we bossed the game but had a big let off after 57 minutes when we conceded a penalty which was put wide, three minutes later we made them pay for that miss when we pulled a goal back when Barry Sinnott drilled home at the back post, we kept the pressure on in search of an equaliser but couldn’t get through. On 88 minutes we got the equaliser we deserved when an an Aaron Diskin free kick was knocked on and Mj doran got in behind the defence and finished calmly into the far corner to bring it to extra time. Chances were scarce in extra time but an excellent save from Darren Carthy in the last minute ensured we had the dreaded penalties. After seven penalties each we came out on top 5-4, with three excellent saves from Darren Carthy in the shootout. It was an excellent performance from all 13 players today as we head on to the next round.
B team were away to Moyne Rangers where it ended up being a bad day at the office. It wasn’t to be our day and we were beaten by the better team with Moyne coming out on top by 3-0. It’s a bad loss but we’ll come back stronger next week and but things right as a team.
Corach under-16 boys travelled to Enniscorthy United this afternoon, with a skeleton team of 11 players and no subs. Jack Doyle scored the opening goal of the game, 14 minutes in, unfortunately before the half time whistle, we conceded three goals, one of which, coming from a free kick, from just outside the penalty area. The second half saw a goal from Ryan Morris in the 14th minute from a penalty, but on the 23rd minute, we conceded a further goal from play, making the score 4-2. Still fighting hard, the 70th minute saw a goal scored from play by Jack Donohoe, making it 4-3, but Enniscorthy came back with a goal in the 73rd minute, making the score line 5-3 at the final whistle. Two yellow cards were given, Ryan Morris and Michael Keegan picking up one each. A hard fought game, better luck with the next match, and hope to see all at training next week.
Under-15s went to Ballymurn on Saturday and were 2-0 down within 10 minutes and sloppy defending left it 3-0 on the half hour. John Crosbie pulled one back just before HT with a well-placed header. On the restart, the boys played with a renewed energy and Cathal Cummins made it 3-2 from another header. Josh White completed the comeback with a lovely finish, smashing the ball home with a lovely left foot finish to make it 3-3. But then completely against the run of play, Ballymurn countered and as we cleared the ball it ricocheted off one of their attackers and dribbled into the net. A cruel way to lose but the boys showed great heart. Final score 4-3.
Corach boy’s under-14s travelled to New Ross Town this morning and came up against a very good, strong, physical side. Despite going behind twice in the first half the game was poised at 2-2 at the break, two fine goals from Philip Roche hauled us back level. One of which was as a result of a Messi-esque piece of outrageous skill from Alan O’Grady, who also had a shot come back off the post late in the first half. A slight Re-shuffle saw Corach take the game to the home side early in the second period, only to be caught out from a corner kick to go behind 3-2. Immediately Corach responded and saw a great headed chance from Philip Roche just scrape past the post. As the half wore on we pushed further and further forward in search of the equaliser but a quick counter down the right wing saw New Ross double their lead late on and they added the cherry on top in the dying moments to round off a disappointing day in the sunshine in the Good Council grounds. A decent performance from the boys and a much closer match than the result suggests but with a loss comes a chance to learn, and the boys will be back better than ever in a couple of weeks. #COYR
Under-12 boys travelled to Ferns yesterday and came away with a fantastic win. A Great team display with scores from Alex Power Tom Moran, Shane Carroll and Cillian Brennan. Final score 8-0.
Corach under-16 girls three Forth Celtic three Two even teams who played good football in wet slippy conditions and it was Forth who scored first and so it was one – 0 at half time. Corach came out firing on all cylinders in the second half and quickly equalised through Shannon Anglim with a great shot. We were unlucky to fall two goals behind but the girls dug in and played some lovely football and deservedly got back on level terms with two penalties from Niamh Millar.
We would like to offer our deepest sympathy to our club member Josh White and his family on the recent passing of his mother Claire. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time. May She rest in peace.
ICA NEWS
The guild held their first meeting after the summer break on September 12. Condolences were expressed to the families of Willie Culleton, Larry Wickham, Carmel Lannon and Trish Boyce. The Knit and Stitch show is taking place in the RDS from the 20th to October 23, with some guild members travelling.
The competition winner was Anne Cr, Sobieski and the raffle winner was Catherine O’Connor. The next meeting will be held on Monday, October 10, at 7.30 p.m. in Carrig Community Centre. The competition is ‘the most used kitchen gadget’. New members welcome.
DANCING
Dancing continues ever Thursday night in Tír na nÓg with music by Tom Murphy on October 13, Jimmy Barnwell on October 20, Halloween dance with Cupla on October 27. Congratulations to Bridget Quirke who won €200 on spin the wheel at last Thursday nights dance.
All proceeds in aid of Ballymitty Handball club new build. There will be a bus pick up drop off service from your house covering all areas to the social dance nights every Thursday night. SAD PASSING
The whole parish of Bannow was shocked and saddened at the sudden death of Claire White née Roche at her home last Saturday night. Claire was 53 years of age and is survived by her husband John, sons John, Cormack and Josh, brothers Noel, Dermot, Ray, Michael and Colm, sisters Anne, Mary, Nuala, Nora, Eileen, Angela, and the late Carmel. The removal was on Wednesday to Carrig church for funeral Mass at midday with burial afterwards in Rathangan cemetery. May she be at peace.

Our Junior Hurling team reached the end of the road on Sunday last. They played Gusserane in the county semi-final on a sunny Sunday in Cushinstown. Thanks to Pat Fitzharris Manager of the team for guiding the squad to semi-finals. Thanks also to Bertie Doyle, Ken Foley, John o Sullivan, Jack Harper and Larry Coleman. And not forgetting our water boys and hurley minders on the side line. Well done to all the team for getting so far in the championship.
