More than 7km of water mains replaced
IRISH Water, in partnership with Wexford County Council, says it has replaced more than 7km of old water mains at a number of locations in the county, resulting in a more reliable and secure water supply. The project represents an investment of €926,000.
A total of 3.25km of water mains have been replaced in Ballymitty and a further 920m of mains have been replaced in Wellingtonbridge. Work also took place in the Ferns area where 3km of ageing mains have been replaced.
Irish Water said that as a result of this work, 320,000 litres of treated water which had been lost to leakage every day is now being saved.
