Due to un­fore­seen cir­cum­stances and en­tirely be­yond the con­trol of the or­gan­is­ers, the planned pay-out of Ou­lart Penny Bank cheques will not take place tonight (Tues­day, De­cem­ber 5) but will be held on next Tues­day, De­cem­ber 12. The or­gan­is­ers re­gret any in­con­ve­nience to savers.


Scoil Mochua was an­nounced as ‘Wex­ford’s Cleanest School’ at the Wex­ford County Coun­cil En­vi­ron­men­tal Awards re­cently. Hearti­est con­grat­u­la­tions to ev­ery­one in­volved in bring­ing the award to our par­ish. The school claimed sec­ond prize for the newly com­posed song ‘The Bat­tle of Ou­lart Hill’ in the ‘Best Her­itage Preser­va­tion and Con­ser­va­tion Project’. The bal­lad was sung by Faith Master­son and Shona Proc­tor-Laird.


Con­grat­u­la­tions to proud new par­ents El­iz­a­beth (Mur­phy, Mon­aw­ill­ing) and An­drew Ma­her, Clon­more, Co. Tip­per­ary on the birth of their baby boy, Fionn An­drew, in St Luke’s Hos­pi­tal, Kilkenny, on Novem­ber 27.


For the sec­ond year in a row a pupil from Scoil Mochua has won first prize in the En­nis­cor­thy Credit Union Art Competition, on the theme ‘Dreams are made of –‘. Well done to Finn O’Kane, Senior In­fants and to Anna Roche from Sec­ond Class, who claimed third prize in the same competition.


For­ever Fit Wex­ford holds two Fit­ness Classes ev­ery Fri­day morn­ing in Ou­lart Com­mu­nity Cen­tre. These classes are suit­able for all lev­els and cost only eight euro per class. No ad­vance pay­ment-just pay-as-you-go. Dancefit be­gins at 10 a.m. and Ac­tive 50+ at 11.30 a.m. Please call Amanda for more de­tails (087 9713339).


The an­nual senior cit­i­zens Party will take place in Ou­lart Com­mu­nity Cen­tre on Sun­day, Jan­uary 14. Please in­form any com­mit­tee mem­ber (Seán Byrne, Ed­die O’Grady etc) if you know any new­com­ers to the area who should re­ceive an in­vi­ta­tion to the party.


A meet­ing will be held in Ou­lart Com­mu­nity Cen­tre, on Tues­day, De­cem­ber 5, be­gin­ning at 7.30 p.m., with a view to set­ting up a Car­diac Re­sponse Unit. Con­tact Vickie Dunne (087 7780749) for fur­ther in­for­ma­tion.


Ev­ery Tues­day at 8 p.m., a group of peo­ple in­ter­ested in prac­tis­ing and learn­ing crafts such as knit­ting, cro­chet, em­broi­dery etc, meet in Marty’s Bar. All crafts and craft prac­ti­tion­ers are wel­come to drop in and join the group.


The lat­est win­ner of Scoil Mochua’s split-the-pot was Laura Red­mond, who won €110. The next draw will be held on Mon­day, De­cem­ber 11. En­try en­velopes are avail­able from lo­cal busi­nesses. Thank you for your con­tin­ued sup­port.


The Scoil Mochua 2018 Cal­en­dar is avail­able to pur­chase from the school, Cor­ri­gan’s Spar and Ou­lart post of­fice. The cal­en­dar would be a lovely Christ­mas gift and a nice keep­sake for years to come. The price is eight euro for one, €15 for two cal­en­dars and €20 for three.


Scoil Mochua will present a Christ­mas Con­cert on Wed­nes­day, De­cem­ber 20. Staff and pupils are busily pre­par­ing for this event which will take place two days be­fore the school closes for the Christ­mas va­ca­tion.


Ou­lart-The Bal­lagh GAA will hold its AGM on Fri­day, Jan­uary 12. De­tails will be pub­lished later. The Coiste na nÓg endof-year meet­ing will be held in Ou­lart Com­mu­nity Cen­tre on Sun­day, De­cem­ber 17, start­ing at 8 p.m.

All club mem­bers, adult and un­der­age men­tors, coaches, par­ents/guardians are en­cour­aged to at­tend.


Ou­lart-The Bal­lagh camo­gie club would like to ex­tend their sin­cere thanks to ev­ery­one who sup­ported the cook­ery demon­stra­tion which was their main fundrais­ing event for this year.

Thanks to ev­ery­one who sold and bought tick­ets, who ad­ver­tised in the cook­ery book­let and to the lo­cal busi­nesses who added so much to the night with their lovely stalls and prod­ucts. To those who came along on the night we hope you en­joyed it.
