Camogie’s Caitlin aims for glory
A YOUNG camogie player from the Glynn Barntown club has won her way through to the final of a prestigious national competition but it’s her account of what the game has done for her rather than her inherent talent on the pitch that has the young sports player vying for glory.
Caitlin Hunt is just one of 10 national entries shortlisted for the top prize in the Liberty Insurance ‘Camogie Made Us 2018’ competition.
Caitlin, who is an U14 player with the club, struggles with dyslexia and she wrote a piece explaining how camogie has helped her feel more confident and given her a place where her condition doesn’t matter.
She also highlighted the support she gets from her great team mates.
Through the competition she has already won her club €500 but if she comes out on top she could potentially bring €7,000 to Glynn Barntown.
Caitlin along with her team mates and coaches were busy putting their final video entry together last week and that has now been submitted to the judges.
The winner will be announced on August 21, however, there will be a big social media voting campaign involved and the club is appealing to as many people as possible to get behind Caitlin’s campaign.
