‘Bad Intentions’ upon us

-

THE Wexford Academy of Martial Arts is holding their annual fight night on Saturday, August 25, entitled ‘BAD INTENTIONS’.

This fight night promises to be even bigger and better than ever before. Due to the enormous support that this event draws every year, the Wexford Warriors have decided to take to the ring in the prestigious Clayton Whites Hotel where it is expected a record-breaking crowd will be in attendance as expectant spectators are intending to travel from all corners of the country. An international audience is also expected as fighters from European countries have been invited to take on the best martial artists that Wexford and, indeed, Ireland has to offer.

A new and exciting event that has been added to this year’s spectacular is the inclusion of an thrilling four-man elimination event. This is a K1 event that will see four of Ireland’s top light-weight K1 fighters go toe-to-toe for the illustrious title of WTKA Irish Lightweight Champion. Competing in this highly anticipated event is none other than fan-favourite Jack Browne. Jack’s martial arts career has seen him dominate the kickboxing scene in Ireland. He has now decided to take the K1 national scene by force. He is up against highly experienced K1 fighters from all around the country. They know of Jack’s stellar reputation and they’re out for blood! The hype for this event has been reflected in the overwhelming response on social media from enthusiasts that cannot wait to see these guys fight it out until there is only one winner.

Another highly anticipated bout is between that of the Wexford Academy’s Jack Shalloe and Galway’s Kian McGann. Young Shalloe seeks to contend for the junior WTKA title. Jack has been a member of the club for many years now and has put blood, sweat and tears into preparation for this title shot. Although Jack is a well-established fighter, he knows that this is his opportunity to show Wexford that he’s got what it takes.

Mark Keane is also stepping into the ring for the WTKA Light Welterweight title against Athlone’s Cathal Dunne. These men have business to finish as they have fought before. They can’t wait to go toe-to-toe to determine who really is the best fighter in Ireland at this weight class

Wexford Academy’s female champion, Alice Power, is back in the ring again for a prestige bout against Jersey’s Monika Markowska. Alice’s experience, determination, skill and reputation go far before her nationally and it is now her time to take to the international scene to find worthy opponents. Alice is expecting a tough fight but has put in a tremendous effort into her preparations for this fight and is going for the win.

As if all of this excitement wasn’t already enough, the Wexford Academy is backing up these fights with a cracking undercard of fights that will showcase the talented fighters from the Wexford Academy of Martial Arts including Wayne Handrick and Lee Dempsey.

For tickets, contact the club’s Facebook page or any club member. Alternatively, a limited number of tickets will be available on the door on the night. Doors will open at 6pm with first fight kicking off at 7pm. Come show your support for these amazing local athletes and be astounded by their sheer talent and skill all at the same time. A great night of entertainment awaits.
