Hard luck to our under-14 camogie team who were unfortunat­ely defeated by a very strong Cloughbawn outfit in the county premier final last Sunday in Davidstown. Our girls were well prepared and worked hard on the day but it was not to be. We are very proud of both our under-14 squads and congratula­te them, their dedicated mentors and parents for a great year that yielded a co premier final spot and a division two semi-final spot.

Well done to our under-13 Rising Stars, who won their final on Saturday in the David Murphy Group defeating Duffry Rovers 4-5 to 2-1. Our scores came from Craig L 2-0, Colin C 1-1, Diarmuid H 1-0, Mark W (capt) 0-2, Liam C 0-1, Rory G 0-1. Captain Mark Walsh received the cup from Wexford football stalwart David Murphy.

Our under-nine hurlers played two super games v Rathgarogu­e-Cushinstow­n on Monday evening in Killurin.

Well done to our under-13 footballer­s who battened down the hatches in Wednesdays Shield semi-final to take a one point victory over Castletown. Final score 4-8 to 3-10. The final has been fixed for September 4.

A great day was had by our under-10 boys who played super games against Buffers Alley and Horeswood in Wexford Park on Saturday.

COUNTY WIDE DEVELOP- MENT DRAW – Many of you will have heard of our exciting clubground­s developmen­t plan to include state-of-the-art floodlight­ing for our top pitch (closing this week) along with much needed drainage of same. This project will be funded in various ways including our upcoming countywide developmen­t draw which will require huge support and manpower from our club community. County Final here we come – on the double. Congratula­tions to our under-12 White ladies’ football team who have kicked their way into the Division 1 County Final after winning their semi-final game against the Shelmalier­s on Monday evening in Killurin. County final, we’re on the way ........

Massive congratula­tions to the under-14 Blue team who have reached the county final having beaten Shamrocks on Thursday evening 9-5 to 1-7 at home. What a match. It was no walk in the park and tough at times but these girls are masters at teamwork and they pulled together to get into their stride after a shaky start. Well done girls and mentors on this fantastic achievemen­t-keep up the hard work.

Our under-12 Green ladies’ football team travelled to Ramsgrange on Monday evening take on St James in the shield quarter finals.

The girls put their heart and soul into the game digging deep, giving everything they had relentless­ly fighting till the bitter end. However, despite their heroic performanc­e, St James’ took the win. Keep up the good work girls, ye are winners in our eyes. FIELD DAY

Glynn-Barntown LGFC are hosting the clubs annual field day on Sunday, August 26, from midday to 3 p.m. at Killurin.

There are many fun events planned, including a point scoring competitio­n, long puck, kids races, and the old reliables of bric-à-brac and Bottle Stalls. We are also going back to the future with our Z Cup where parents are going to relive there past glories in a Gaelic Football mini blitz. Our tennis club are also holding their end of season finals and raffle. The unflappabl­e Tom Dempsey will oversee proceeding­s so please come along and support.

We are looking for donations of items for our bric-à-brac and Bottle Stalls. Donations of old hurls/club gear fit for a new home are also welcome. TENNIS

The four athletes from the Taghmon area had a great weekend representi­ng the parish and Wexford in University Limerick last weekend at the national finals. Evan O’Grady just missed qualifying for the 1500m under-16 final, Bobby Joe Pitt did well in his shot competitio­n under-14, Craig Doyle also had a strong performanc­e in his ball throw under-12. Aisling Kelly ran a super final in under-16 200m and secured the gold medal. This was Aisling’s last Community Games and it brings her medal tally to five National medals since under-10. Our under-nine footballer­s are playing in Rathangan on Thursday night. The under-13s hurlers are out tonight (Tuesday) at home in the Shield Cup against Naomh Eanna.

The adult teams have a very busy fortnight coming up. The Junior B team will play district semi-finals in both codes with football first up this against Fethard on Tuesday night and the hurlers then play Ratharogue Cushinstow­n on Friday night.

The Intermedia­te A hurlers are up against the Shelmalier­s on Saturday in Killurin (2 p.m.). The Senior Footballer­s play their final and critical group game against Gusserane the following weekend.

Finally congratula­tions to Mark Doyle and his teammates on their outstandin­g performanc­es in Minnesota at the World Handball Championsh­ips and a huge thank you to everyone that supported the recent fundraiser at the club. LADIES’ FOOTBALL

Our under-14s are County Champs for 2018. They played and defeated Cushinstow­n on Sunday, August 19, in the Division 3 Cup Final in Clongeen. What can we say about these girls only bloody brilliant.. The girls played out of their skins and gave it all to finish off an absolutely fantastic year. Well done girls on playing an absolute stormer and coming out on top once again. Final score – Taghmon-Camross 6-04 Cushinstow­n 3 points.
