Motorist who crashed into wall has case dismissed

-

A MOTORIST who admitted being at the wheel of her car when it crashed into the wall of her local church appeared at the District Court in Wexford last week.

Tracey Hall from 23 Oak Tree Heights, Castlebridge faced a hit and run prosecution arising from the accident at St Ibar’s in August of last year.

Investigating garda gave evidence of arriving at the scene to find a Ford Focus embedded in the wall, with hazard lights flashing and air bag inflated.

However, there was no sign of the driver as the garda was joined by two fire tenders and an ambulance.

He traced the registered owner of the Ford as Ms Hall but she was not at home when he called to Oak Tree Heights and she did not appear to be at her mother’s house either.

Garda Cahill was given her phone number and he made contact by phone the following day when she admitted she had been driving.

She told him that she had panicked and left the scene.

The relevant insurance documents and driving licence were later produced and found to be in order.

Judge Gerard Haughton noted that he had been given no evidence of any damage having been caused, so he dismissed the matter.
