New Opera Festival chair

THE board of Wexford Festival Trust has elected Dr. Mary Kelly as its incoming chairperson to succeeed the current chairman, Ger Lawlor who will complete his term of office at the end of 2018.

Dr. Kelly, a former Director General of the Environmental Protection Agency in Johnstown Castle, will take up the post on January 1 next.

A long-time active supporter of the Festival, she has been a been a member of the board of Wexford Festival Trust since 2017.

Dr. Kelly served as Director General of the EPA from 2002 to 2011 and recently completed a seven-year term as chairperson of An Bord Pleanála.

A graduate of Trinity College Dublin, she was elected to membership of the Royal Irish Academy in 2008 and she also served on the Council of the Academy.
