Stewards call

-

An appeal for stewards to be in place at every big match at Wexford Park has once again been made to Wexford GAA headquarters after vehicles blocked rounds surrounding Wexford Park at two well attended hurling semi-finals. Cllr George Lawlor said: ‘We have gone through the hoops with this with Wexford GAA. We have had serious issues around Wexford Park over the weekend again. People were unable to get out of their own homes. Recently an ambulance had to reverse down the street because of inappropriate parking.’ Cllr Lawlor said the GAA agreed to fund the hiring of stewards for major matches, but failed to the previous day. He asked CEO Tom Enright to write to Wexford GAA on behalf of the council and call on them to fulfil their promise. He said: ‘It works for a couple of matches then everyone forgets. This is a matter of procedure that they should be putting in place.’
