Market House delay is ‘extraordinary’

-

Concern was expressed about the pace the Gorey Market House project is advancing. Cllr Robbie Ireton said: ‘It’s six months since the tenders were to be in. I find it extraordinary and it’s probably the same person that is going around looking for prices. He has approached several builders. I think anyone who left the country high and dry should not be allowed to tender for this in any shape or form.’ A Part VIII planning application for re-development of the Market House into a multipurpose performance, exhibition and retail space was passed at the May county council meeting. The invitation to tender for development proposals from parties interested in partnering with the Council on the project closed on May 18 and one tender submission was received. This has been fully assessed.
