Machine at fault for blaze at premises in Kilrane Business Park

-

TWO UNITS of Wexford Fire Service were called to the scene of a fire at AES in Kilrane Business Park, where a machine had caught fire while transferring waste to an open top truck.

The fire service was alerted at 5.05 p.m. On arrival, they found the building heavily smoke blocked and they used thermal imaging cameras to survey the site inside.

With the help of staff, they were able to find the machine and two crews of two, using breathing apparatus entered the building and extinguished the fire.

The units used water from a local source and two hose reels. Once the fire was extinguished, ventilation was the key task.

One man in his 30s was in the building at the time. He removed himself from the premises and was uninjured, but he was brought to Wexford General Hospital as a precaution, due to smoke inhalation.
