Walkers strut their stuff for charity organisation

- By BRENDAN KEANE

ST Martin’s GAA Club provided the venue for a charity walk in aid of the Ronald McDonald House foundation.

The walk was part of a nationwide campaign held under the banner of ‘#WearYourStripes’ and took place on Sunday, October 7.

Aimed specifically at families it was suitable for people of all ages and the organisers were delighted with the level of support it received.

In addition to the actual walk itself there was also a range of fringe attractions in place to keep everyone amused throughout the afternoon.

The Ronald McDonald House charity helps families all over the country who have a child seriously ill or in need of long-term care in Crumlin Children’s Hospital.

The Friday before the event employees and students all over the country were encouraged to wear stripes to work or college to show their support for the overall campaign.

The charity has helped 3,628 families since it was set up in 2004 and the organisation’s Chief Executive Officer in Ireland, Marian Carroll, said the house helps keep families close during very difficult and challenging times.

The organisers of the walk in St Martin’s thanked the families who turned up on the day to support the event.
