Funding for four rural projects in Wexford district
FOUR WEXFORD district projects have received funding as part of the Village Renewal Scheme for 2018.
Welcoming the announcement, Cathaoirleach of Wexford County Council, Councillor Keith Doyle paid tribute to all local community groups and associations across County Wexford and commended them on their continuing efforts to improve their local areas.
CEO of Wexford County Council, Tom Enright also warmly welcomed the announcement of funding for the Wexford applications and said the Council looked forward to supporting all of the local communities in achieving their goals.
Blackwater Parish Hall and the Stella Maris Centre in Kilmore Quay received the highest totals, being awarded €200,000 each.
In Blackwater, there are plans to refurbish the community hall, as well as developing a community cafe, coastal walking trails and tourist information point. Meanwhile, the Stella Maris Centre is set to build an extension to the premises.
Barntown Community Centre received €100,000 for works to be carried out on the local community centre.
Finally, Murrintown Community Development Group received €74,430 for the development of a playground facility in the village, including a village field, garden are and walking track.
