Owens off on his travels

WEXFORD REFEREE James Owens is Australia-bound. The Askamore-Kilrush whistler who took charge of this year’s Limerick versus Galway All-Ireland Senior hurling final, has been honoured with the task of taking charge of the Galway versus Kilkenny Senior hurling challenge in Sydney next month.

This is further major recognition for the Wexford man who took charge of his second All-Ireland Senior final in August.

Shortly after his return from Australia, he will accompany the All Star hurlers on their trip to New York to officiate at the exhibition game between the last two All Star sides.
