Bravura at Blue Egg

-

BRAVURA 2018 is a group show curated by Mary Gallagher at the Blue Egg Gallery in John’s Gate Street, featuring work in clay, glass and metal by Irish and international makers alongside tapestries by four Irish artists.

The three featured ceramic artists are exhibiting in the gallery for the first time - Julie Ayton makes functional porcelain work in classic shapes with a contemporary twist; Katharina Klug also uses porcelain to create strikingly colourful functional pieces while Paul Maloney from Wexford is well known for his table ware.

Bravura 2018 will mark a return by him to one-off hand decorated earthenware platters and vessels.

Glass artist Scott Benefield exhibited in the gallery for Bravura 2016 and returns this year with a new range of dazzling glass pieces.

Rebecca Gouldson’s two dimensional work was shown in the gallery’s inaugural exhibition in 2011 and this year a small range of her etched and patinated vessels in metal are on display.

Textiles feature regularly in the Blue Egg Gallery’s programme and BRAVURA 2018 includes small woven pieces made especially for this exhibition by Muriel Beckett, Mary Cuthbert, Terry Dunne and Angela Forte. Also on display is some new jewellery by Inga Reed.

The exhibition will run until Sunday, November 4, opening every every day, including Sundays, from 11 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.
