SCHOOL OF MUSIC

Shelmalier/Crossabeg School of music is back every TTuesday from 3.10 p.m. till 5.15 p.m in Crossabeg national school. Lessons on guitar with Thomas Furlong for beginners and advanced. Tin whistle/Flute/Uileann Pipes intermedia­te and advanced with Catherine Roche. Mixed instrument­s class with Catherine from 4.30 p.m. till 5 p.m. Tom Bates from Extreme Rhythm will be teaching drumming. Ciara O’Grady will be teaching new hip sean nós dances. Band practice will be from five to 5.15 p.m. Lessons €5 per lesson or €7 one lesson. Contact Catherine at 087 0533952 with enquiries.

results of the Curracloe United lotto draw for Sunday, October 7, The numbers drawn were 10, 22, 25 and 26. There was no jackpot winner and no match-three winners. €300 will be shared between the match-three winners in the next draw. Weekly draw takes place every Sunday night at 9 p.m.

CARDS

Weekly winners of the partners 45 in Hotel Curracloe were Fr Denis Kelly and Murt Kelly. Cards continue every Thursday night at 9 p.m for turkeys. There is an open draw and all are welcome.

MEDITATION CLASSES

HALLOWEEN TEEN DISCO

St Ibar’s/Shelmalier camogie club will host a Halloween Teen Disco on Tuesday, October 30, in Hollymount from 8.30.11 p.m. Tickets will be on sale on Friday, October 19, from 6.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. and on Saturday, October 20, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. You can also text 087 6233925 on Friday, October 19, from 8.10 p.m. All tickets can be collected on Saturday, October 20, between 2 and 4 p.m. from the club shop.

HANDBALL NEWS

Castlebrid­ge Handball Club had great all-Ireland success on Sunday, October 7, when the Murphy brothers, Stephen and Brendan travelled to Co.Cavan to contest their respective all-Ireland singles finals. Both of the brothers won their matches. The club will have three members in the doubles all-Ireland finals, Pádraig Devereux and his partner Tommy Armstrong (Kilmyshall), James Mythen and his partner Nicky Casey (St Mary’s) and John Roche and his partner Gavin Buggy (St Joseph’s). The finals will take place on Sunday, October 28, and the venue is to be clarified. The winner of the recent Bingo Bonus Ball draw was Mary Murphy, Ballybogga­n and the number was 73. Juvenile coaching takes place every Monday from 5.45 p.m. to 7.45 p.m. Ladies only One Wall training takes place every Monday from 7.45 p.m. to 9 p.m.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING – Castlebrid­ge Handball Club will hold their annual general meeting on Monday, November 5, at 8 p.m. in the meeting room in the Alley. Your attendance would be appreciate­d.

CURRACLOE SCHOOL NEWS

Congratula­tions to last week’s winner of split-the-pot Joshua Faustino, who won €114. Many thanks to all the supporters. Splitthe-pot envelopes (€2 each) can be purchased in all the local businesses in Curracloe village, as well as from the school.

Well done to Katie Doyle, who successful­ly qualified to represent her club in the National women’s gymnastics finals to be held in Dublin in December. Best of luck to Alisha Doyle, who will be competing in the National gymnastics Individual apparatus finals next weekend which will be held in the National Indoor Arena in Dublin. Good luck girls.

Bingo is starting in the school hall on Sunday, October 21, from, 3.30 5 p.m. and weekly thereafter. All are welcome, so do go along and have some fun.
