GAA NOTES

Massive congratulations to everyone who helped out with the opening of the new indoor arena with Davy Fitz.

Gerald been given the honour of cutting the ribbon. The club set up a marque tent where there was a large selection of food and tea available. Aswell as Davy, we welcomed Fr Nolan, County Board chairman Derek Kent, club president Tommy Whelan and Cathal Byrne. After Liam Buttle gave a brief history of the club, Derek Kent spoke to the crowd while Fr Nolan also spoke. Then Davy Fitz.

Gerald spoke and I think everyone will agree, he spoke excellently, showing exactly why he has such a passion for hurling. He outlined about how the wexford supporters made his decision easy to stay for a third year and how he prays that he can bring even a Leinster Hurling title to Wexford next year. He also spent nearly two hours taking pictures and signing autographs while giving everyone plenty of time to speak to him. The club would like to say a big thank you to him for giving his time so generously and wish him and the Wexford team all the best for the season ahead.

Well done to Adam O’Connor, who was part of the St Peter’s A team who won a first year blitz recently.

There was no winner the lotto. Numbers drawn were 10, 26, 27 and 32 and 29. Winners of lucky dip were Rose Cullen, Derek Lynch, Margo O’Brien, Treacy O’Connor, Martina Martin and the seller’s prize was Richie Curran.

Hard luck to the boys Rackard League team who lost out to Kilmore 4-06 to 1-06 in their final group game. The ladies top their table and are currently unbeaten.

Note from committee: Any tops left in the arena are are now in the meeting room in the club house and must be collected within the next fourthnight otherwise they will be giving to charity.
