CROSS COUNTRY IN DAVIDSTOWN – Fantastic results from day one of the Mr Oil County Cross Country Championships in Davidstown hosted by Adamstown AC. So many memorable medal performances but the highlight of the day has to be the Kilmore 1-2-3 in the under-14 girls 3000m, a first for our club with Niamh Fortune helping Freya Thompson (first), Arwyn Thompson (second) and Kate O’Flaherty (third) to a facile team gold.

In the under-12 age group we had many girls and boys competing. Rayna Thompson had a very strong race to come home third while Katie Foley was eighth and booked her place on the county team for Leinsters with a spectacular run. The girls were also second team, with the aforementioned Katie and Rayna being joined by Ava Barry, who finished a strong 11th, Áine Fortune, Aoibh Bates, Niamh O’Flaherty and Amy Burton. In the boys race Liam Hore and Ben McKenna both had very good runs.

In the under-16 girls Eimear Fortune and Katelyn Boggan both made the county team with good top 10 performances. Our under-16 boys Ross O’Flaherty, Senan Murray and Cian Doyle claimed silver in the team standings. This was both Cian and Senans first ‘proper’ cross country race and Ross’ first for some time, so well done lads. In the boys under-18 6000m Rory Cassidy was sixth while Liam O’Flaherty was fourth. Seán Halpin was our sole runner in the under-10 boys 1k event, well done Seán. Suzanne Foley was our only Novice woman and ran very well in the 3000m race. Keep up the good work Suzanne.

Our men’s team also gave a very good account of themselves Niall Crosbie, Adrian Reville, Nicky Foley and Michael O’Flaherty. Michael was first Kilmore man home inside the top 10. Other results and times to be added as soon as they are confirmed by Wexford Athletics. Check our Facebook ‘Kilmore Athletics Club’.
