TUESDAY, OCTOBER 23 HALLOWE’EN AT KIA ORA

Kia Ora mini farm in Gorey will be transforme­d into a spooky farm for the duration of Hallowe’en season. Are you brave enough to try out the electric chair, visit the spooky wake or meet the many monsters who have taken up residence on the farm. Visitors are encouraged to attend in fancy dress and there will be Hallowe’en discos over the mid-term weekend. The Hallowe’en Kia Ora mini-farm will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 24 HORROR TRAIN

The Amber Springs Hotel in Gorey will be running a horror train from not until October 31, Hallowe’en night.

The trains will run at 7 p.m. each night and in addition the hotel will also be running specially commission­ed Hallowe’en Trains until November 4. The trains will run as part of a Monster Mash which will feature a new village where Frankenste­in, ghouls, skeleton and other spectres are likely to appear.

Visitors, especially younger members of the family are encouraged to come along in their scariest costumes and there will be ghoulish goodies up for grabs. To avoid disappoint­ment tickets should be booked in advance with all tickets priced €10. COOKERY DEMONSTRAT­ION

The next event in the Pfizer Healthy Town programme is a free cookery demonstrat­ion with Catherine Fulvio, the award-winning celebrity chef, cook book author and television personalit­y, which will take place in the Riverbank House Hotel at 6.30 p.m. The event will start with an introducto­ry talk on the benefits of healthy eating by an Irish Heart Foundation dietician. Catherine will share some healthy recipes that can be easily replicated at home using the best of local Wexford produce.

MINI MAESTROS

This workshop offers a progressiv­e, fun and interactiv­e curriculum and is taught by trained profession­al musicians Aileen Donohoe and Peter McCamley. Children and parents get to discover music through instrument playing, singing and learning musical notation. Starts at 10.30 a.m. in Wexford Arts Centre.

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 25 THE UNPLUGGED SESSIONS

Mick Egan will command a presence in the upstairs area of Macken’s Bar to perform original songs from his current and upcoming album. The concert starts at 9 p.m.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 26 BANDSTAND PRESENTS: LIVE AND LOUD

A fantastic night of original music is promised at The Presentati­on Centre in Enniscorth­y as Bandstand presents Live and Loud No. 1. This first instalment will feature music from Tuesday at Six, Seany O’Keefe Hempenstal­l, Kyro Jones, and Ten Ounce Mouse. HALLOWE’EN DISCO PARTY

A Hallowe’en disco party, with optional fancy dress, takes place in the Ross Adventure Play Barn in New Ross on Friday, October 26, between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Meet Disney characters for great photo opportunit­ies. Admission is €7.50 per child and there will be spot prizes and various games on the evening, which is expected to be spooktacul­ar!

HALLOWE’EN HAUNTS AT WELLS HOUSE & GARDENS

The ghouls and ghosts of Wells House & Gardens are due to awaken after another year of slumber and set to take over the Wells House estate between now and Wednesday, October 31. Families are welcome to participat­e on one of the spooky tours where ghosts and spectres will lurk around every corner. Booking for these eeriest of events is required through 053 9186737.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 27 HALLOWE’EN AT BALLYCROSS

Each weekend until Hallowe’en, visitors can enjoy pumpkin picking trips out to the pumpkin patch on a tractor and trailer.

This one of a kind experience allows you to pick your unique pumpkin to buy and take home for carving just in time for Hallowe’en and while there you can take a walk through the Witches Village and meet the resident Ballycross Witch! Visitors are also welcome to take a spellbindi­ng walk through the woodlands or catch a ride on the horse and cart to the Witches Village and take in the sights.

STINGY JACK HALLOWE’EN STORIES

Stingy Jack comes out of his cavern this Hallowe’en. Meet him if you dare and hear his twisted stories, try and take his turnip but don’t get too close to his stingy claws. Pre-booking essential. Suitable for children 8 years of age and over. Children must be accompanie­d by an adult. 4.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. at the Irish National Heritage Park.

PUMPKIN CARVING WORKSHOP

A spooky pumpkin carving workshop will take place at Enniscorth­y’s Presentati­on Centre getting under way at both 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. and lasting an hour. The cost is €5 and participan­ts are asked to bring their own pumpkin. For more informatio­n, see thepresent­ationcentr­e.ie.

CHILDREN’S HALLOWE’EN DISCO

A disco for kids aged from 0 to 10 years will be held in Bellefield GAA Complex from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Organisers are hoping to see some frightenin­gly good fancy dress costumes and there will also be plenty of prizes along with a raffle. Face-painting will be provided on the day by Sherry Keane. The cost of entry is €3 per child with a goody bag. All money raised will pay for a set of jerseys for then Rapperees under-sevens.

CREEPY TALES AND HAUNTED CASTLES CREATIVE WRITING WORKSHOP

Kids aged from eight to 12 are invited to take a trip through Irish history and meet some of the ghastly ghosts unique to Irish myths and legends at this special event at Enniscorth­y Castle. Then they will learn how to write their own ghost story with Irish Times Best Selling Author Caroline Busher. The workshop runs from 2-3 p.m. and tickets are available from enniscorth­ycastle.ie.

HALLOWE’EN MAKE-UP DEMO

Looking for the perfectly terrifying look this Hallowe’en? Then the Hallowe’en make-up demonstrat­ion at Enniscorth­y’s Presentati­on

Centre will be just the ticket. Learn all manner of skills to ensure you look frightfull­y good this Hallowe’en. The class runs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. For more details, contact the Presentati­on Centre.

SEISIÚN ROUND THE FIRE AS THE FORGE

Starting at 9.30 p.m. sharp, this is a Hallowe’en Special so fancy dress is allowed and encouraged. The seisiún will feature all of the regular musicians and special guests and even a bit of spoken word and dancing. 80S PARTY NIGHT

The Riverbank House Hotel is going back to the 80s with a party night, incorporat­ing a disco, karaoke and photo booth. Tickets are available from the hotel and via Sing It Production­s social media pages. Doors open at 9 p.m.

SPIDER FRIGHTERS

Presented by Red Moon Theatre, this interactiv­e children’s story follows the fortunes of Serendipit­y Spider’s adventures inside her haunted mansion and, what action she takes when someone thinks of ‘cleaning up’ the dusty, cobwebbed old house. Starts at midday in Wexford Arts Centre.

ACT – ATTWELL CONNOLLY TANDEM

The Stella Maris Centre will welcome the musical styling of Peter Connolly and Chris Atwell, a jazz/ fusion duo who are embarking on an Irish tour. Having met in Berklee College of Music in Valencia, they began to create and cultivate an original sound which they are projecting on an internatio­nal stage. SPOOKY SPLASH

Spooky Splash will take place at the Seal Rescue Centre in Courtown on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, October 27, 28 and 29, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The cost of participat­ing will be €5 (for children who must be accompanie­d by an adult – who will get in free-of-charge). HORROR IN THE MARKET HOUSE

The Market House on Gorey’s Main Street will provide the venue for some ghoulish goings on throughout the afternoon of Saturday, October 27. From midday until 4 p.m. there will be a wide range of activities taking place to keep children amused including a fancy dress competitio­n. A spokespers­on for the organisers commented: ‘Don’t miss the opportunit­y to meet and greet Micky and Minnie Mouse along with Scary Sarah and Wicked William’.

FANCY DRESS PARTY IN CLONEGAL

The annual Halloween Fancy

Dress Party will be held in Dunne’s Lounge, Clonegal. Spooky prizes for the best dressed costume and best dressed couple. Music performed by ‘Trademark’. Tickets are only €5 and purchased from committee members or you can buy on the night.

The weekly Country Market in St Mary’s Hall, Fethard will take on a Halloween flavour this day, open from 10.30 p.m. to 1 p.m.
