FAI Junior Cup

North End United continued the defence of their FAI Junior Cup crown when overcoming fellow Wexford top flight side Bunclody 3-1 in their third round clash on Sunday.

Adam Beary bagged a double for the Sky Blues, with Gary Delaney also getting on the scoresheet, while Jason Somers replied from the spot for Bunclody.

Unfortunately, North End goalkeeper Lee Walker suffered a broken arm during the game and the club would like to wish the talented netminder well in his recovery.

Courtown Hibs also came out on top in an all-Wexford clash, with James ‘Billy’ Byrne scoring a hat-trick in their 3-0 win away to New Ross Celtic.

An in-form Forth Celtic side hit Tombrack United for six in Murrintown on Sunday, winning 6-2 thanks to doubles from Jamie Carthy and Lee Busher, a Ryan Murphy goal and a Darragh Rossiter penalty. Matthew Hendrick and James Coleman hit the back of the net for the visitors.

Meanwhile, Gorey Rangers overcame local rivals Gorey Celtic 7-2 (see focus match).

LFA Junior Shield

Enniscorthy United marched on in the O’Neill’s LFA Junior Shield when proving too good for Raheen in their second round tie on Sunday.

Ryan Dywer and Hasane Smyth both scored doubles for the Enniscorthy outfit, with Adam Casey also getting in on the act and Peter Finn and John Redmond replying for Raheen.

Stuart Hayden, Alan Flood and Michael O’Rourke got the goals for Wexford Bohs as they won 3-2 away to Duncannon, with Damien O’Grady and Jamie Wallace replying.

Jamie Murphy got on the scoresheet for Tombrack but they lost out 4-1 to Derry Rovers, while St. Joseph’s lost 2-0 to Abbeyleix Athletic. Elsewhere, Rosbercon were handed a walkover from Glenmuir United.
