A night of doubles

Roche keeps the Wexford flag flying

THERE WAS a great turn-out at Enniscorthy Greyhound Track on Monday for the first round heats of the Red Mills Future Champion Unraced Stake, and it was a night of doubles as trainers Peter Cronin and Paul Hennessy flew the flag for Co. Kilkenny.

Local owner and trainer George Roche struck for the home team while Kildareman Eugene Price also recorded a nice double in a very interesting first round.

The second round this week may well see some who got trouble in their heats expected to improve and they could cause some upsets.

The second round could well prove more informative as the cream will start coming to the top.

The second round of the Boylesports Enniscorthy Leger was run on Thursday night, and sponsor John Boyle’s runner, Boylesports Boom, went quickest in heat two, trained by Paul Hennessy who bought this one from an Unraced Stake here.

The semi-finals will be very competitive this Thursday night.

There is a big night of racing next Sunday, October 28, in aid of the Wexford Hospice Homecare, and a huge crowd is expected to support the worthy cause.
