Two of our ventures also addressed the Scout County AGM outlining details of Wamboree 2019 which will take place in June, with proceeds going to two Wexford Charities.

CLUB DEVELOPMENT

As the season draws to a close for a few months plans are already under way for further development works. A full lighting system will be installed around the walking track which will see completion of the final stage of the track development.

The Astro facility will be refilled and brushed and building works on the clubhouse redevelopment will also begin over the coming weeks. All these works are only possible with the ongoing support of all our members and supporters and the club takes this opportunity to thank everyone for their ongoing support of all club activities and fundraisers.

STRICTLY CLUB DANCING

The big night is getting closer now with our dancing couples putting the finer details to their routines. Strictly Club Dancing will take place on Saturday, November 3, in Coast Hotel Rosslare Strand.

A great fun club night for all the family with tickets now on sale for €10 each. Tickets will be limited so be sure not to miss out and get yours early. Tickets are available from dancers and club secretary Sharon Pettit.

As the dancing couples count down the weeks rumour has it dance instructor Charlene is pulling her hair out. The dancing ladies too we hear are finding it hard to manage some of the divas up in the hall with Cork blow in Robbie strutting his stuff, Blondie making up his own steps as he goes along, Huggies declaring ownership of the crown already and mouse river dancing at every opportunity.

CLUB LOTTO

It is now easier than ever to play our weekly club lotto and never miss a draw by signing up to a 10-week subscription for €15. Subscription forms are available at most training sessions or contact Sharon at 086 1787498 to sign up. Club lotto provides vital finances for the club which allow us to continue to maintain and develop clubground facilities and your support of the lotto is very much appreciated. The jackpot now stands at €15,400 and there is also a match-three prize of €200 up for grabs each week. The numbers drawn last week were 4, 27, 30 and 33. Many thanks for your continued support.

We want to have it ready for use by the end of September any help would be greatly appreciated.

BEREAVEMENT

Deepest sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Richard (Dick) Kelly Ballyduskar lane, Killinick, who sadly died during the past week and whose remains were laid to rest in Ballymore cemetery. May he rest in peace.

LADIES’ FOOTBALL

St Fintan’s Ladies’ football season came to a close yesterday evening with our minors playing a shield final v Clonee it was a very close game from start to finish with our girls playing excellent football unfortunately we were unlucky this time, final score St Fintan’s 2-12, Clonee 5-09. For some of that team it’s an end to their underage playing days but we look forward to seeing them in the field next year at adult level.

A very big well done to all our lady footballers and mentors in all age groups for all their hard work during the Year, we hope all the girls enjoyed playing for St Fintan’s, with numbers growing each year the future is looking good, also a big thanks to the Men’s club especially Sharon, for their help, support and pitches during the year. See you all in the field next year. Nicky Sinnott chairperson.

The under-11 girls played a div three game on Saturday afternoon at home to Corach Ramblers. In wet conditions the girls started off applying good pressure but play broke down the field and Corach got their first goal. Not to be deterred the girls got back in to it and a few minutes later a perfectly timed pass by Hannah Dempsey across to Jolie Rankin saw Rankin score to level the game. However, soon after Corach pulled one back. In a ding dong battle and a number of attempts by our girls, Eva Smith scored to level the game again. 2-2 half time.

A rain soaked second half began with good play from both sides. However, with about five minutess gone a huge heavy shower came across the field and onto the pitch like a wave, and referee Yvonne called all teams into the shelter of the dressing rooms. Having discussed the game and worseing weather it was agreed to call off the game. Final score 2-2.

While all girls were disappointed they could not finish the game, they understood. the rain hadn’t fazed either team, and the game was played in good spirt and this was only compounded further when one of the corach girls asked ‘oh how do we all shake hands?’ Great sportsmanship. both teams lined up in the hall way and shook hands. The club would like to wish the Corach Ramblers goal keeper best wishes in her recovery from her wrist injury. Men’s A team went down to a 3-0 scoreline against Wexford Bohs second team earlier this afternoon. Our Men’s B team also was on the losing side of a 6-1 defeat against Bunclody at Casey Park. David Foley with the only Blacks goal of the day.

Well done to our Women’s team on getting their first league win of the season. In a closely contested game away to local neighbours Fastnet, goals from Zoe Butler, Eimear O’Brien and a free kick from Seren Ward ensured a 3-2 win on the day. Well done to all the ladies and younger players for battling to the end. Three points well earned.

The under-11 premier division team braved the elements this morning to take on curracloe in what was a very wet morning in Casey park. Both teams got stuck in from the off with great play from both teams. We went into the break 2-0 down after the restart we conceded another goal but the girls never gave up and kept on going playing and moving the ball around with some great passing which seen us pull a goal back through Rachel Nacey. The girls now had a momentum going but we’re caught out by another goal from Curracloe. The girls kept pushing till the very end but it was not to be. Well done to all nine girls who played.
