GAA CLUB AGM
Friday, November 16, saw Our Lady’s Island GAA Club hold its annual general meeting.
With a good attendance, outgoing chairperson Kevin Kehoe opened proceedings by remembering those we lost during the past 12 months with a minutes silence before reflecting on the year passed and thanking all for their support throughout his term in the chair.
Officers elected for the upcoming 2019 GAA year are chairperson: David Maloney, Vice-chairperson: Nicky White, secretary: Suzanne Ellard, treasurer: Ger Carthy, Vice-treasurer: Eoin Kinsella, PRO: Alan Cloney, Coaching Officer: Davy Corish, Child Protection Officers: Seán Carthy and Damien O’Donovan. Executive Committee: the above and Donal Mullins, Pádraig Power, Liam Pettit.
OTHER GAA NEWS
Our GAA Bingo continues each Tuesday in Butlers Lounge at 8 p.m. with tonight’s jackpot standing at €475. The jackpot has now hit €16,400, with Kevin Newport bringing home a small few euros with matching three numbers last week. Tickets always available locally for only €1.50 each.
RACKARD LEAGUE SUCCESS – Our Lady’s Island GAA Club would like to congratulate the girls of Our Lady’s Island and Mayglass National Schools on their historic County Rackard League success recently. A big ‘well done’ to all involved, especially the girls from our own school, Mia Meyler (Joint Capt), Aveen Ellard, Ava Newport, Ava Wallace, Rebecca Cloney, Kate Moran, Katie Fortune, Naomi Denton and Jessica Murphy on bringing a first ever title back to our proud parish.
ICA NIGHT OUT
The parish ICA Christmas Dinner will take place in Kelly’s Hotel, Rosslare on Wednesday, December 5, at 6.30 p.m. Non-members also welcome, please contact Lila at 9131145.
STORY NIGHT
The monthly Story Night will take place in Tacumshane Old School on Friday, December 7, at 8.30 p.m. Come along, sit back and enjoy the talent, music, song and storytelling.
There will be tea, coffee and cakes at the interval. A great night’s entertainment promised.
YOUTH CLUB AGM
Please note change of date for the Youth Club AGM. – this meeting will now take place Thursday, December 6. in Community Centre at 8 p.m. Sorry for any inconvenience. It is very important that one or both parents attend.
MEDJUGORJE
The OLI annual pilgrimage to Medjugorje leaves next May 13 for a week. Cost €560 Aer Lingus flights, Bed Breakfast and evening meal in Hotel. Transfers and local guide included. Seats are limited. SPLIT-THE-POT
The split-the-pot ‘draw and ‘cuppa’ takes place in the Conservatory of Parochial House after Sunday Mass. Congratulations to Sylvia Moran, c/o Frank Nolan on winning €120 in last week’s split-the-pot draw.
ICA GUILD NOTES
The local ICA held their monthly meeting on November 12. And extended sympathy to the Corish family and Pettit family on their recent bereavements.
The recent coffee morning held in May in aid of the Hope Centre realised €335 and the coffee morning held in October in aid of Hospice Homecare raised €440 – a big ‘thank you’ to all who supported both these worthy causes.
All joined in congratulating Katrina Parrock on her fantastic achievements on the sporting field. It was decided to have our annual Christmas Dinner in Kelly’s Hotel on Wednesday, December 5, at 6.30 p.m. Non-members are welcome – contact Lila on 9131145.
The competition was won by Peg and Patricia and the raffle was won by Angela Pettit and Susan Keogh.
COFFEE MORNING
There will be a coffee morning, cake sale and raffle etc. in Cushen’s, Tagoat on Tuesday, December 11, at 11 a.m. in aid of Kilscoran Union of churches.
