Christmas village launch
THE Kilrane-Rosslare Harbour community group will be holding its 11th annual Christmas village initiative in St Patrick’s Church, Rosslare Harbour, at 6.30 p.m. on Thursday, December 20.
The event will feature Christmas carols and music performed by talented members of the group in addition to some invited guests.
There will also be a poignant aspect to the night when a Ceremony of Light will take place in conjunction with the Rosslare Harbour lifeboat crew to remember those lost at sea.
Following the ceremony, which the organisers are hoping will be a beautiful celebration of Christmas in the community, there will be tea, coffee and home-baking served in the Railway Social Club - where a monster Christmas raffle will also take place.
A spokesperson for the organisers said Santa will arrive in style at his grotto and he will have a gift for every child attending.
Mrs Claus and Olaf will also be there for face-painting and musical fun and games.
Admission will be €5 for children with adults getting in free-of-charge.
‘This is a festive evening not to be missed,’ said the spokesperson.
‘This will be a chance for everyone in our little community to come out and enjoy a festive evening, join in the singing, enjoy the music, see the children smile, meet their neighbour for a cuppa and remember those who have spent their Christmas in Rosslare Harbour over the generations,’ she added.
She went on to comment it will be an event to bring to mind ‘a real old fashioned Christmas’.
