Christ­mas vil­lage launch

THE Kil­rane-Ross­lare Har­bour com­mu­nity group will be hold­ing its 11th an­nual Christ­mas vil­lage ini­tia­tive in St Patrick’s Church, Ross­lare Har­bour, at 6.30 p.m. on Thurs­day, De­cem­ber 20.

The event will fea­ture Christ­mas car­ols and mu­sic per­formed by tal­ented mem­bers of the group in ad­di­tion to some in­vited guests.

There will also be a poignant as­pect to the night when a Cer­e­mony of Light will take place in con­junc­tion with the Ross­lare Har­bour lifeboat crew to re­mem­ber those lost at sea.

Fol­low­ing the cer­e­mony, which the or­gan­is­ers are hop­ing will be a beau­ti­ful cel­e­bra­tion of Christ­mas in the com­mu­nity, there will be tea, cof­fee and home-bak­ing served in the Rail­way So­cial Club - where a mon­ster Christ­mas raf­fle will also take place.

A spokesper­son for the or­gan­is­ers said Santa will ar­rive in style at his grotto and he will have a gift for ev­ery child at­tend­ing.

Mrs Claus and Olaf will also be there for face-paint­ing and mu­si­cal fun and games.

Ad­mis­sion will be €5 for chil­dren with adults get­ting in free-of-charge.

‘This is a fes­tive evening not to be missed,’ said the spokesper­son.

‘This will be a chance for ev­ery­one in our lit­tle com­mu­nity to come out and en­joy a fes­tive evening, join in the singing, en­joy the mu­sic, see the chil­dren smile, meet their neigh­bour for a cuppa and re­mem­ber those who have spent their Christ­mas in Ross­lare Har­bour over the gen­er­a­tions,’ she added.

She went on to com­ment it will be an event to bring to mind ‘a real old fash­ioned Christ­mas’.
