Former ‘Peter Pan’ leading man takes flight!

-

IT WAS a proud day for the Byrne family when 23-yearold Gavin Byrne attended his passing out ceremony for the Air Corps, graduating as a part of the 34th cadet class.

It was extra special as Gavin was also awarded for being top of his class.

He will now take up a position as a Squadron pilot in the Flying Training School. Joining the Air Corps was something that Gavin had wanted to do from a young age, his proud mother said.

However, those in artistic circles will know that Gavin had actually taken to the sky once before joining the Air Corps.

One particular message of congratulations came from Wexford Pantomime Society, a group which Gavin has been a member of for many years. Having started out in the chorus, Gavin became a leading man in 2012, playing the role of Peter Pan in their production that year.

On their Facebook page, Wex- ford Pantomime Society congratulated Gavin, saying: ‘We are super proud of our long time member and past leading man Gavin Byrne who graduated as an officer in the Irish Air Corps. Peter Pan got his wings. Well done Gavin, your Panto family is very proud of you.’
