An anniversary, birthday and engagement for the Duffins!
THERE WAS plenty for the Duffin family from Alvina Brook to celebrate when they gathered for a special family occasion in the Gaelic Bar.
The party was organised to celebrate the 40th wedding anniversary of Davy and Eileen Duffin, but the night also coincided with their oldest son Gareth’s birthday, and an announcement by their daughter Eleanor of her engagement to boyfriend Garry Loughlin from Mullingar. The family was joined by about 80 guests.
Finger food was provided by the venue and the family expressed their thanks to Liam Sinnott and the staff for their hospitality.
Davy and Eileen met at a dance in White’s Hotel in 1971 and married on November 9, 1978. Their wedding reception took place in the Talbot Hotel and they enjoyed a honeymoon in London and Bristol. The couple had four children: Gareth, David, Eleanor and Kieron.
Originally from Trinity Street, Davy worked on Stena Line’s Rosslare to Fishguard route for 39 years as a chef, retiring in 2011. Eileen (nee Barnes), originally from Corish Park, worked in Jackman’s Jeans before moving to Rehab Care and finally to the Clonard Church play-school.
