Found asleep at the wheel

James Lawlor (40) from Lon­graigue, Foulksmills at­tended the District Court to ad­mit a drink drive of­fence.

He was found asleep at the wheel, with the en­gine run­ning, at Car­rick­byrne on March 24 ear­lier this year.

He ac­cepted that he was in­tox­i­cated at the time and a for­mal breath test con­firmed that he was over the limit.

Lawlor ex­plained that he works as a se­cu­rity guard in Dublin and that he nor­mally drives to work.

He was fined €400 and banned from hold­ing a li­cence for two years, with the dis­qual­i­fi­ca­tion post­poned un­til Jan­uary 1. Street; Piotr Praski, 11 Sk­eff­in­g­ton Street; Deb­bie Barnes, 24 Dev­ereux Vil­las; Nick Grey, 10 Rad­harc na Mara, New­town Road.

A lesser fine of €100 was marked against Siob­han Ros­siter, 49 Cromwells­fort Drive. In each case, the fine came with an or­der to pay costs of €61.50 costs.
