-

THE parents of a child who died only two hours old in May have donated an amazing €7,780 to Féileacáin, the (Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Association of Ireland - SANDAI).

Alfie Dunne died two hours after he was born in the National Maternity Hospital, Holles Street, at 34 weeks, four days on May 22. A tea party fundraiser featuring amazing cakes from local bakeries was held in September at the community centre in Terrerath. Alfie’s mother Lorene Dunne said: ‘Without Féileacáin we wouldn’t have had all the precious moments we had and the support we get even now. To have the opportunity to be able to give back and say thank you means the world to us,’

She thanked all the businesses who supported the fundraiser and everyone who attended on the day. Lorene and her husband Dwayne, from Kilbraney, Gusserane, donated the money surrounded by family and friends at the Talbot Hotel, where Féileacáin were holding an annual Christmas market which was attended by families like the Dunne’s who lost their beloved child very young.

Lorene said all of the money goes to help Féileacáin provide supports for families.

?? ?? The €7,780 proceeds of the tea party fundraiser are presented to Joan Tuthill, representing Feileacáin, by Lorene Dunne.
