Seán fits bill for U-15s

-

THERE WAS further deserved recognition for one of the county’s brightest young soccer prospects recently when Seán Fitzpatrick featured in two games with the Republic of Ireland Under-15 squad.

The Shamrock Rovers and Wexford F.C. performer lined out for the opening 55 minutes when the boys in green defeated home side Poland 1-0 in a friendly, and he left a lasting impression.

Indeed, it was from his cross in the 25th minute that winger Ben Quinn found himself free at the back post to head home the winner.

Poland turned the tables a couple of days later with a 4-2 victory, and on that occasion Seán replaced Conor Campbell with half an hour remaining.

Meanwhile, the Irish Defence Forces are in the Netherlands this week for the World Military Games qualifiers, and there is a strong Wexford representation on the squad.

Shamrock Rovers pair Ricky Fox and Chris Kenny are among seven midfielders called up for action, while Tony Smith from Curracloe United is one of the four forwards.
