Mu­si­cians sought to sup­port top acts

Wex­ford Arts Cen­tre has is­sued an open call for new and up­com­ing Wex­ford based mu­sic artists across all gen­res to ap­ply to be part of its sec­ond PwC Spot­light pro­gramme for 2019.

A se­lec­tion of artists will be cho­sen to be part of the Spot­light panel which will be pro­filed on the cen­tre’s web­site and matched to sup­port in­com­ing tour­ing artists in Wex­ford Arts Cen­tre per­for­mances in the county next year.

Spot­light artists will also fea­ture in a show­case con­cert and will re­ceive ad­di­tional men­tor­ing sup­port. They will also be paid a sup­port act and per­for­mance fee.

The 2018 par­tic­i­pants in­cluded Me­gan Kate Doolan, Karen Alice Dun­bar, Alice Lynskey and Stone Blind State. Among the tour­ing acts that they sup­ported were The Lost Broth­ers with Steve Wick­ham, Paddy Casey, The 4 of Us, Larry Kir­wan, Ra­di­ant Ara­ca­dia, Wells House Lit­tle Fes­ti­val in the Big House and Ca­role Nel­son.

Dur­ing the year, they were men­tored by the renowned mu­sic ex­pert, bi­og­ra­pher, au­thor and for­mer Hot Press Gen­eral Man­ager Jackie Hayden.

2019 marks the Wex­ford Arts Cen­tre’s 45th an­niver­sary, mak­ing it Ire­land’s old­est re­gional arts cen­tre.
