Man is saved from mud at Quay

-

WEXFORD GARDAI and fire service were called into action on Wednesday last for a more unusual occurrence as they battled to rescue a man who had become stuck in the mud at the Crescent.

At approximately 10 a.m. Gardai received a call from the fire service who sought assistance in their operation to retrieve the man, who was waist deep in the mud at Crescent Quay.

The tide was out, meaning there was little water by the quayfront but the mud was particularly thick and easy to become stuck in.

A garda spokesperson said that it was not the first time someone had found themselves in difficulty in a dry Crescent, pointing out that a few years ago a similar situation had occurred.

Gardai assisted the fire service in their actions and subsequently transferred the man to Wexford General Hospital as a precaution.
