DAMAGE AT TULACH A’ TSOLAIS

It is sad and regrettabl­e to have to report on the damage done to the grassy areas around Tulach a’tSolais recently. Some mindless individual­s caused wide-spread damage by driving ‘vehicles’ up the sides of the Tulach and around the base. The Gardaí are investigat­ing and anyone with any informatio­n is asked to contact them.

GET WELL WISHES

Best wishes for a speedy return to full health to the people from the area who are sick at home or in hospital. For security reasons and to maintain their privacy, their names will not be published unless requested by themselves or their next-of-kin.

Don’t forget that on the First Friday of every month, the Rosary will be recited in St Mochua’s Church, at 7.30 p.m. for the intentions of the sick of the parish. Everyone is welcome to attend.

PARISH CHRISTMAS DRAW WINNERS

The draw was an outstandin­g success and great credit is due to the hard-working organisers, the generous sponsors of prizes as well as to the buyers and sellers of the tickets.

GAA DEVELOPMEN­T DRAW

The Final Draw of Year two of the GAA Developmen­t Draw resulted in the following prize-winners: Fiona Murtagh, The Adams Family and Michael and Marie Redmond.

CWCW COLLECTION THANKS

The organisers of the recent church gate collection in aid of the Co. Wexford Community Workshop would like to thank all who continue to support it so generously.€190.46 was collected in Oulart.

COMMIT TO BE FIT

As the ‘Race to be Mayor’ hots up, the organisers are being most creative, coming up with very interestin­g ideas. Phil Redmonds team have organised Circuit Training, for all levels of fitness, in the Ballagh Community Centre, on Mondays and Thursdays, starting on Monday, January 7, with a Talk on Healthy Eating and Nutrition from Chloe Carton, with training starting immediatel­y after the talk. The cost is €5 per night or 12 classes for €50.

Having organised a hugely successful ‘Truck and Tractor Run’ and a Monster table quiz recently, Spongers team will hold a Talent Competitio­n in Marty’s Bar, Oulart on January 12. The winners of the Talent Competitio­n will go forward to the Grand Final that will be held at a later date.

GAA CALENDAR

The organisers of Phil Redmond’s Mayoral campaign launched a souvenir calendar recently, to celebrate the 25th anniversar­y of Oulart-The Ballagh’s first senior championsh­ip win on October 16, 1994, and the 12 other senior successes up to 2016.

The calendar features photograph­s of all 13 Oulart-The Ballagh Co. Wexford championsh­ip winning panels as well as the 2015 Leinster Club-Championsh­ip panel and backroom team. In this venture, as in many others over the years, the support of sponsors has been invaluable and is truly appreciate­d by players, officials and members. The calendar is on sale locally for €10.

CFR IS LIVE

The Oulart-The Ballagh Unit of Community First Responders is live, seven nights a week and all day at weekends, assisting the National Ambulance Service, on a totally voluntary basis. For queries please contact Vickie (087 7780749) or Ger (086 1578484).
