D.M.P. team delight
Forde retains cross-country crown
THE BEAUTIFUL surrounds of JFK Park played host to the Mr Oil Wexford Senior cross-country races in 2018, one of the main highlights of the busy domestic calendar.
Kilmore’s Fiona Kehoe had a comfortable win in the women’s Senior 5,000m race ahead of clubmate Jackie Carthy in second and Ann Sullivan (D.M.P.) in third.
There was exultation in the D.M.P. camp as the club wrested the team title back from Kilmore who finished in second place. S.B.R. were third.
In the Senior men’s 10,000m race, Ger Forde of Slaney Olympic held onto the title he had won a year previously. Young Striders athlete Aedan Rogers looked impressive in second place, while Niall Sheil won bronze.
In the battle for the team title, United Striders were unfortunate to lose Alan O’Connor mid-race through injury.
The upshot was that S.B.R. retained the title by one point, with Striders second and S.B.R. ‘B’ third.
