OPERATION TRANSFORMA­TION

GAA clubs across Ireland will be coming on board with RTÉ’s Operation Transforma­tion and turning on their floodlight­s/lighting systems between 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. each Thursday for a six-week period (January 17 to February 21) as Operation Transforma­tion returns to our screens for 2019.

Do you want to get moving and active this New Year, but youhave nowhere to go? Do you find it hard to find a safe and well-lit area to go for a walk during the dark winter months? Well, St Martin’s GAA Club has the answer.

We’re coming on board with Operation Transforma­tion and the GAA for Ireland Lights Up. Every Thursday from January 17 to February 21 our club will be open and lit up for you, your family and friends to come and walk from 7.30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

We want everyone to come and join for Ireland Lights Up 2019. All are welcome to come to this event. Please register at the clubhouse on arrival. Any queries contact Jenny Bates at 087 9650738.

SCOUT GROUP NEWS

Beavers, cubs and scouts have now re-opened for 2019. Tuesdays 7.30 p.m. to 9 p.m. for cubs and Scouts and 6.30-7.30 for Beavers on Thursdays.

THRIFT FUND

Piercestow­n Thrift fund reopened on Sunday, January 6, at 10.30 a.m. in Knockingal­l Community Centre, Piercestow­n. Thrift Fund can also be collected on Tuesday nights at 7.30 in the centre. Contact Jack at 087 6191349.

ARA CLUB NOTES

The ARA Club has re-opened for 2019 on Tuesdays from 2.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. – new members welcome. Registrati­on due February 7 €20 for year to include insurance cover for meetings. Day Trips will be planned shortly.

Evening event on Tuesday, March 5 – Trip to New Ross Musical Production of ‘Funny Girl’ – departing Wexford 4 p.m. – evening meal 5.15 p.m. and show starts at 8 p.m. Cost will be advised next week. Ring Ann at 087 6677411 to book your place or contact any of the members. It’ll be a great night, don’t miss it.

Sally Griffiths from Pieta House will be along to club in next couple of weeks at 2.45 p.m. to give a talk on the great work they do and how we can all help.

We will have a ‘mature make up’ demonstrat­ion in next few weeks. everyone welcome, you don’t have to be a member to come along to these talks and Demonstrat­ions. enjoy a cuppa on the day. Dates etc will be published next week.

Piercestow­n-Murrintown ARA Club will be organising our Easter Hampers Draw again selling lines for 2019 and cards will be out in plenty of time asking for your support please for this, their only fundraisin­g event of the year. thank you for your support in the past.
