ENVIRONMEN­T GROUP NOTES

The Rosslare Harbour-Kilrane Environmen­t Group AGM was held on Friday, January 11.

The following officers and Committee Members were elected. President – Phyllis Lawlor, chairperso­n – Micheál Delaney, Vice-Chair and PRO – Dave Laheen, secretary – Vera Fox, treasurer – Sharon Fox and Asst secretary – Donal O’Neill. Committee Members are Pat Doyle, Tony McCormack Connie McCabe, Charlie Hill, John Dromey and Paul McCormack. The Junior Committee Members are Layla, Kyle, Melissa and Kieran.

Reminder: A WEEE (Waste Electric and Electronic Equipment) cage only for small Household electrical goods such as toasters, kettles, DVD players, hairdryers, electric drills, Christmas tree lights etc. situated at the back of the Railway Social Club and is open on Saturday Mornings between 10.00 and 11.30 a.m., weather permitting.

OPERATION TRANSFORMA­TION

Rosslare Harbour Ramblers are walking again for Operation Transforma­tion. Thank you to everyone who walked on Saturday the 12th for National Walk day. Our next walk is on Wednesday the 16th at 7 p.m., and Saturday the 19th at 11 a.m. All walks start at the viewing point (opposite the Topaz garage in Rosslare Harbour) with plenty of parking. Get Walking, Get Fit. Let’s make it bigger than last year.

ST MARY’S GAA

St Mary’s Rosslare wish all our community a Happy New Year. We look forward to another busy and successful year. We are looking for people to help in any way possible and are looking for a PRO to manage Twitter, Facebook, Web page and various news outlets. If interested please ring Conor Roche at 087 2027202.

Our lotto now stands at an amazing €20,000. Buy a ticket – it might be the one to get 2019 off to a great start. On Tuesday, January 8, numbers were 1, 15, 16 and 23; there was two matchthree winners Ruth McNamara and Mag McDonald. Tickets can be bought throughout community and from any committee member.

We have entered our first Jim Byrne Football Cup under-17 team in over a decade. They will play Bannow in Tagoat at 11 a.m. Sunday the 13th. Please come along and support the team; they have a match every Sunday for the whole of January. Best of luck to Larry and the lads.

Training continues on Mondays and Wednesdays at the usual times in Rosslare Strand – new members welcome.

Juvenile Cross Country Relays will take place on Sunday, January 20, at midday.

Our AGM will take place on Wednesday, January 16, at 7.30 p.m. in the community centre, Rosslare Strand. We hope and appreciate that as many parents and guardians as possible will attend.
