ENNISCORTHY based tech firm Datapac this week announced a new five year sponsorship deal with the National Opera House in Wexford, valued at €175,000. Described as a ‘long-standing’ supporter of the Opera House over its ten years, the investment has been earmarked for the digital transformation of the prestigious venue in the hopes of maintaining and growing it’s global reputation.

Under the terms of the sponsorship, Datapac are to completely overhaul IT systems at the Opera House and have also agreed to provide support and strategic advice over the course of the five year partnership. It is hoped that the investment will create a ‘better user experience’, ‘streamline processes for staff ’ and enhance the overall customer experience by helping the venue to open up to even more visitors.

Having opened its doors in 2008, the National Opera House is Ireland’s first and only custom-built Opera House and is home to the international award-winning Wexford Festival Opera, which has run for over 67 years. In 2014, the venue was designated as Ireland’s ‘National Opera House’ by the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht.

David McLoughlin, CEO, National Opera House, said: ‘This greatly appreciated investment will go a long way towards modernising our processes and systems, enabling us to further focus on promoting the rich variety of performances staged here throughout the entire year, in addition to the annual Wexford Festival Opera.’

‘Our primary aim is to encourage more people to visit and enjoy the National Opera House – our collaborative partnerships with local businesses are central to achieving this aim. This renewed partnership with Datapac enables us to not just maintain our state-of-the-art facilities, but to truly innovate. This level of support is absolutely essential to the international acclaim we receive as the “best small Opera House in the world”.’

Meanwhile, General Manager at Datapac Karen O’Connor was delighted to get involved.

‘Datapac has been a supporter of the National Opera House for more than a decade and has seen the venue make a tremendous impact in the South East region throughout that time,’ she said. ‘Having a world-class amenity, making quality arts and entertainment available in the South East, is essential to regional quality of life.’

‘This helps Wexford-based businesses like Datapac attract the best talent to work and live in the area.’
