The percentage increase in the number of new dwellings built in County Wexford last year.

New figures from the Central Statistics Office show that 485 new dwellings were constructe­d in the county in 2018, an increase of 133 on the 2017 total of 352. Residentia­l building activity in Co Wexford compares favourably with the national increase of 25.4 per cent, year-on-year.

Broken down by Eircode, 162 new dwellings were built in the Wexford Y35 area, 156 in the Enniscorth­y Y21 area, 140 in the Gorey Y25 area and 32 in the New Ross Y34 area.

There were 122 more dwellings constructe­d in the Wexford local authority area in the final three months of last year, an increase of 35 over the same period the previous year. Of those dwellings built in the final quarter of 2018, 62 were single builds and 60 were part of a scheme. No new apartments were constructe­d in the period.

Wexford accounted for 2.7 per cent of the national total of 18,072 new dwellings built in 2018. Dublin, the mid East, and the North East saw significan­t activity, with strong figures also in Limerick and Galway.
