Shopliftin­g case adjourned

A WOMAN with a long list of previous conviction­s was held responsibl­e at the District Court for the disappeara­nce of €240 worth of goods from McCauley’s in Redmond Square, Wexford.

Mary Ward (29) from 1A Glen Terrace, Waterford, was apprehende­d as one of three who stole the haul, which included Gillette Mach 3 razor blades, on July 27 in 2016.

The unemployed defendant had similar theft conviction­s on her record from courts in Waterford, Cork, Carrick-on-Suir, Youghal, Wexford and Gorey. Her solicitor pointed out that she had not come to garda attention since last May.

A plea of guilty was tendered and Judge John Cheatle decided to adjourn pending production of a community service report.
