Fenlon goal sees Crossabeg ‘B’ shock Rovers

Crossabeg AFC ‘B’ pulled off a massive upset in the third round of the Creane and Creane Wexford Cup as they overcame last season’s beaten finalists and current Premier Division leaders Shamrock Rovers 1-0 on Sunday.

Davie Fenlon scored a last minute free-kick for the underdogs to earn the Division 4 side an unlikely victory against one of the favourites for the competitio­n.

Premier Division title-hopefuls Moyne Rangers ‘A’ will fancy their chances of going deep into this competitio­n and on Sunday they comfortabl­y saw off Taghmon United ‘A’ 4-0.

Pa O’Rourke, Dillon Redmond, John Peare and James Peare got the goals for the Enniscorth­y outfit.

Top flight side Rosslare Rangers had far too much firepower for Killenagh Wanderers ‘B’, winning 8-0, with Lee Devereux helping himself to a hat-trick, David Murphy chipping in with a double and Niall Walsh, Rob Cousins and Mark Furlong grabbing a goal apiece.

Wexford Bohs ‘A’ saw off Division 1 side New Ross Town 3-0 with goals from Paddy Hartnett, Aaron Donovan and Graham Healy.

Courtown Hibs ‘A’ hit Ajax Athletic ‘A’ for six without reply, with Yaw Aboagye contributi­ng a hattrick and Jack O’Brien, Wayne O’Reilly and Higor Garcez netting a goal apiece.

Bridge Rovers ‘A’ successful­ly navigated a potential banana skin against Cloughbawn ‘A’, coming out on top 3-1 thanks to Terry Gainfort, Evan Carr and an own goal, with Callen Morrissey replying.

Corach Ramblers needed penalties to shake off the stubborn resistance of Tombrack United, winning 4-2 in the shoot-out after a 3-3 draw.

Gareth McCurtin, Niall Harney and John Staples hit the back of the net for the eventual winners, with Eoin Carton, Josh O’Byrne and Eoghan Murphy scoring for Tombrack.

Forth Celtic had a much more straightfo­rward passage to the next round as they overwhelme­d St. Leonards ‘B’ 9-1.

Matty Flynn got the goal for the saints.

Division 1 leaders Kilmore United eased into the fourth round with a 6-1 triumph away to St. Joseph’s ‘B’. Shane Cassidy and Conor Roche both netted doubles, with Paul Roche and Seán Byrne adding a goal apiece.

Conor Jordan, James Tonks and Ivan Meegan all hit the back of the net for Ferns United ‘A’ in their 3-1 win over All Blacks ‘A’, with Adam Devereux scoring for the Mayglass men.

Robert Dempsey and Rowan White both bagged doubles for Glynn Barntown as they saw off Bridge Rovers ‘B’ 6-1, with Allen Colgate and Nigel Usher getting their other goals and Thomas O’Connor hitting the back of the net for the Castlebrid­ge side.

Enniscorth­y United ‘B’ held their nerve to edge out Bunclody ‘B’ 4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

James Sheridan opened the scoring for United, with Simon Black replying for Bunclody.

Enniscorth­y Town ‘A’ came out on top 3-1 against their second string, thanks to a double from Brendan Dunne and a Darren Cullen goal, with Matty Cloke scoring for the ‘B’ team.

In the second round North End United ‘A’ saw off Campile United 3-1, with Gary Dempsey (two) and Adam Beary scoring for the Sky Blues and Darragh Kent replying.
